It takes only 90 minutes to reach Shaoxing from Shanghai by high-speed train. Jiujian Lou Villa is a country-house hotel fashioned in this architectural style. It consists of several Tai Men courtyards with a total of 39 rooms scattered around. Intended as a standing symbol of the local culture, the courtyards are designed with a lot of white space and reversed version of Wu Qiang, which is white wall bordered in black. Each of the rooms is decorated in its own unique style, though they all conform to the principle of spirituality, simplicity, and elegancy. In the art gallery, works by Chen Yifei and the other two celebrated "Three Talents" in Shanghai's oil painting circle are displayed, where previous look of the hotel before renovation could be traced. Cooked only with seasonal ingredients, Shaoxing cuisine prides itself on its tempting color and fresh taste. And the chef of the hotel, an absolute Shaoxing native, will no doubt satisfy guests' appetite for local specialties. Delicacies must not do without good wine, and Shaoxing is especially acclaimed for the latter. In Jiujian Lou Villa, guests are encouraged to mix their own glass of cocktail with the local yellow wine. Lu Zhen, where the hotel locates, is a small southern water town originated from an eponymous fiction site under the pen of Lu Xun, a Chinese literary giant. Across the river is the Keyan Scenic Spot, which was once a quarry in the Han Dynasty and is now noted by a vast lake that used to be a reservoir constructed during the Eastern Han Dynasty for flood control. A 5-minute drive from the hotel is the Jianhu Golf Course, which boasts a wonderful spectacle of lakes and mountains, enjoying a fame as “the most beautiful golf course in Jiangnan.” Whether you visit Shaoxing in the flower-blooming spring, lotus-filled summer, osmanthus fragrant autumn, or snow-white winter, Jiujian Lou Villa is definitely a supreme choice for your stay.
