The Hotel is located in downtown Ponce and has a unique concept that intertwines modern style and historical architecture. The historic facade dating from 1882 is regulated by the Puerto Rico Institute of Culture. It was built by the owner at the time, Mr. Francisco Roubert, who along with former ex-slaves conducted this valuable architectural gem and where he lived for many years with his family. In 1912, it becomes the Liceo Ponceño School, the first all girl school. After many years as a commercial property, it was purchased by the Muñoz family and restored to what today is known as the Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino.
