In 1901The Strand in Yangon has since become a national landmark in Myanmar. From the beginning it was regarded as "the finest hostelry east of the Suez" and "patronized by royalty nobility and distinguished personages". The Strand was reopened in November 1993 after extensive refurbishing and restored to its former glory. The Strand is located in the heart of the city. Its colonial charm is apparent from the rattan furniture to the chandeliers and the black lacquered ceiling fans airy suites combines the resplendence of a bygone era with all the modern conveniences.
