In the heart of Heidelberg's Bergheim district, the NH Collection Heidelberg Hotel, formerly known as NH Heidelberg, provides a comforting and historic retreat for business and leisure travelers in Germany's oldest university town. The hotel's strategic location is in close proximity to Zoo Heidelberg and Neckarwiese, a park beloved by city residents for picnics and scenic views of the peaceful Neckar river. Guests can reach the city center on foot in ten minutes. A block from the Volkshochschule tram station, the traveler also has access to many Old Town attractions including the 16th century Heidelberg Castle and Church of the Holy Spirit by tram. For regional destinations, the guest can walk a few blocks farther to embark from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof train station. NH Heidelberg combines classic and contemporary styles in the property. The older portion of the hotel was formerly the site for Heidelberg Brewery, and still retains much of its brewery history and charm. Some say master brewer Friedrich Kleinlein still haunts the lobby. Guests can sip wines from the Bergstrasse area and the local Heidelberger Schlossquell beer at the hotel's Gallo Nero restaurant or the lobby bar. In the summer months, the restaurant opens its outdoor beer garden to its dining patrons.
