The name „Schranne“ derives from old-high-German „scranna“ meaning „barn“. Not far from the hotel you can find a huge building which served as deposit for grain in the Middle Ages. The square in front of the hotel is named after this historical sight. The main building of the hotel was built in the 17th century by a noble family and transformed into a hotel by the owner's grandparents in 1960. Since then the three generations of the Meinold family have permanently invested, restored and modernized the hotel and restaurant now offering 46 classified hotel rooms, 5 restaurant rooms for individuals and groups, a beer garden and outside dining as well as private parking to guarantee the safety and comfort of our guests.
